What is cross platform xbox live connectivity?
Windows Central spotted a Game Developer conference session of Microsoft which was titled as :
Xbox Live: Growing & Engaging Your Gaming Community Across Platforms (Presented by Microsoft)
Microsoft is set to debut a new cross-platform development platform with the motive of bringing Xbox Live support to games on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch. In addition to PC and Xbox consoles. All this will be done with a release a Software Development Kit (SDK) for developers and eventually developers can do all the integration.
As per latest reports at GDC 2019 to be happening in march, Microsoft will present a demo of this cross platform linking of XBox Live. The attendees of GDC will be able to explore XBox live not only on PC or XBox titles but also on android, iOS and Nintendo switch. Microsoft is expected to connect over 2 billion devices with this latest innovation.
Microsoft already have few games across mobile devices with Xbox live support but they are mostly via Minecraft, which requires an Xbox Live login on Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. Till now Microsoft had reserved it for it’s own games, but with this session to be held in GDC 2019, Microsoft will expand Xbox live support to cross platform titles. With this the frequency of multiplayer connection to be improved and hence it will improve the gaming experience.
The GDC scheduling website for 2019 gave us a glimpse of what Microsoft has planned for its connectivity with the mobile gamers.

What's the future?
As far as the affordability , features set and graphics are concerned, Mobile devices are actually closer to the core gaming platforms. Mobile devices being easily accessible as compared to a high-end configured PC or any gaming console. This can be a huge market for Microsoft. The availability of cross platform SDK for will make game developers more free to develop multiplayer games for the platform. With the release of PUBG – Mobile, smartphone gaming experience has been changed. We feel like this is the right time for Microsoft to pitch in with Xbox Live for Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch. The Verge termed this as the Netflix for the gaming industry, with just one subscription you can have fun over all the platforms with a huge gaming ecosystem.
